As if on cue there was a chime from the science station, and the NCO there looked up. “Sensor scans indicate that this is correct, sir – but there’s something else. The ion storm seems to be approaching from the east, but there’s something else from the west. Some sort of… Inversion field, judging from the scans. It also appears to be heading our way.”
It would appear that Ensign Majewski had no idea what either of those things were, aside from the fact that they didn’t sound great. “…What happens when those two things hit us?” He asked, looking to the science officer. Their expression already seemed to say it all.
“Bad things, sir. Bad things.”
There was a moment of stunned, incredibly concerned silence as the very-junior officers manning the command deck looked back and forth between one another, wondering what they should do… And then they jumped into action. Ensign Majewski had never thought that he would be running a red alert one day but here he was, calling for someone to hit the klaxon-
-Which gave a solitary ‘whoooop’ noise and then cut out… Along with the lights, comms system, consoles, and seemingly everything else.
’Ah, bugger,’ thought Ensign Allister Majewski.
